Hey
One of my family members bought the Moto G 2014 (Thea/XT1072) and one day It decided not to boot up. We tried factory resetting and clearing the cache etc from within the stock recovery, still nothing worked. Eventually we decided it's best we sent it back to Motorola who then sent it off to the repair company. Now to cut a long story short, they have accused us of rooting the phone which is impossible because everyone except me in my family doesn't know how to root, and the bootloader is still locked. Now that Motorola or the repair company refuse to touch the phone I was going to attempt to 'actually' root the phone, unlocking the bootloader first. Problem is I can't unlocked the bootloader as I need to gain access to the OS to turn the allow bootloader unlock under settings > development settings.
