Sorry to ask but! Can you use a launcher such as nova on a fire tv stick unrooted?

As per the title sorry to ask the question but i have been reading through the forum and have seen it mentioned about using nova launcher but i was not clear if it was on a fire tv stick or if it was rooted :( would someone please advise if it is possible.
