[Review] Mpow Magneto Bluetooth Headset

Mpow Magneto Bluetooth Headset Review

I was sent a free review sample of this bluetooth headset to review, below are my impressions, for those looking to pick up a nice and pretty unique headset.

UNBOXING, INITIAL IMPRESSIONS

The Magneto comes in a nice and slim box, the entire front of the box doubles as a flap that is held closed by a magnet. Swinging it open reveals the Magneto very tightly nestled inside of a velvet covered plastic holder that has been precision cut to fit the headset. Removing that reveals the included accessories, which are:

MicroUSB Cable
Small and Large Sized Eartips (Medium sized tips are already pre-mounted on the headset)
Small, Medium, and Large Rubber Ear Stabilizers
Manual Card

I was disappointed to see a lack of a carrying pouch or case of some sort among the accessories. Moreso because the Magneto headset itself is stunningly finished, with a very nice circular polished metal finish on its front face. I would hate to see it get scratched, so I do wish a carrying pouch had been included.

The headset itself is surprisingly large, much more so than I anticipated initially. It's also rather heavy, which isn't necessarily the best "feature" for an earphone to have. However as I discovered later, this wasn't really an issue.

The control pod is nicely made, with a full rubber coating, and 3 very clicky buttons.

CHARGING, BLUETOOTH PAIRING

The right earpiece contains a small rubber flap on top of the earpiece, which you flip open to reveal a microUSB port. The Magneto already comes pre-charged, however, it's still a good idea to top it off. A full charge takes 2 hours, which gives a playback time of 8 hours, and 175 hours of standby time.

To pair the headset, simply turn on bluetooth on your device, and hold down the central button on the Magneto's control pod. You'll hear a "Power On" prompt...continue to hold down the central button, and do not let it go. After 7 seconds, you'll hear another prompt say "Pairing", and a light will begin blinking orange, after which, you should see "Mpow Magneto" show up on your device. I didn't need a password, however if you do need to enter one, simply enter "0000". I found pairing to be effortless and very easy. The bluetooth spec is bluetooth 4.1.

Note that you can pair the Magneto with up to two devices. To pair a second device, make sure your first device's bluetooth is turned off, and then follow the pairing instructions again for the 2nd device. I was able to pair a 2nd device no problem.

PHYSICAL COMFORT

As mentioned, the Magneto is a rather bulky earphone, and there's no getting around the fact that it will stick out quite a bit in your ears. However, thanks to the inclusion of the rubber stabilizers, the Magneto's weight surprisingly disappeared, once in the ears. The 3 included tip sizes are all very nice and soft, and I had no issues using the Magneto for over an hour or longer. You can also wear the Magneto with the wire dangling below your chin, or behind your neck, to get the wire out of the way.

OPERATION

Once you've connected your device, to play music, press the central button on the control pod to play or pause the music. Next song is activated by long pressing the '-' button, and previous song is activated by long pressing the '+' button. Volume up and down involves short pressing the '=' and '-' buttons. There are no operations that allow you to fast forward or reverse through a song, you can only skip songs.

For phone calls, simply press the central button on the control pod to answer a call, and press the central button again to end the call. You can also hold down the central button as a call comes in, until you hear a "toot toot" prompt, to reject a call. Voice dialing is possible by holding down the central button and the '+' button simultaneously. Lastly, holding down the '+' and '-' button simultaneously will mute the microphone during a call.

The Magneto also has another very cool feature, from which it draws its name. The earpieces both have magnets embedded within them, and if you simply stick them together, your music will automatically pause (or your call will automatically end). Pulling the earpieces apart will play music again, or allow you to automatically answer an incoming call. My only concern with this feature is possibly scratching the nice metal finishing on the housings.

SOUND QUALITY

And here we have the most important part of any earphone: audio quality. I do consider myself an audio enthusiast, and this was my first time ever trying a bluetooth earphone, mostly because I've always assumed they just simply didn't sound as good as wired earphones.

At first listen, I was surprised at how clear the midrange to treble sounded. The treble didn't sound harsh or bright at all, and the midrange was smooth. As one might expect however with fairly inexpensive, sealed tip earphones, the bass can become rather overpowering at times. Strangely enough, I found this to be somewhat source material and volume related, rather than simply a permanent aspect of the Magneto. At lower volume levels, and when listening to more acoustic, instrumental material, the bass came across as defined and tight, without too much bloat. It was mostly midbass oriented however, and the bass doesn't get very deep. If I played tracks with more exciting basslines however, the bass could quickly get very boomy and overpowering, especially if the volume is turned up.

I also found that the Magneto tended to do instrumental music better than vocals, as vocals had a strangely laid back property, as if the singer were singing from a great distance from everything else. A bit jarring at first, but something that I got used to the more I listened to the Magneto.

CONCLUSION

I found the Magneto to be a very nicely made bluetooth headset, and was surprised by how good it sounded for a bluetooth earphone. Especially cool was its magnetic play/pause feature that has been built into the earpieces. At low to medium volumes, it has a very balanced sound, but the bass can get a bit overwhelming if you crank up the volume.

About the claming 2GB ram of the Samsung Galaxy S5

Hi folks!

pretty new to the forum and for now I am not knowing much about the android. But here got some basic question that hinders my daily use of my cellphone:

The device I am using is samsung Galaxy S 5, and the model is G9008v, for those you know is the version with the China Mobile carrier.
SO, the ram is claimed to be 2GB, right?
bUT WHEN I am using it, the available ram is only about the 300mbs....
Here I've attached the ram status so that I could get some help. As you could see here only THREE programs ar erunning but the total ram is 1.6GB and there are 1.3 GB taken, For no use?

Thanks!

Ultra Tablet keyboard won't connect, Jide support won't respond.

Hello,

I've had my Remix Ultra tablet for three weeks, and on Tuesday of last week the keyboard stopped connecting.

I restarted, cleared cache, dusted off pin connectors, factory reset...all to no avail. It isn't rooted, running OS 1.5.

I contacted Jide support through their website on Wednesday (five days ago) and haven't heard back.

Any suggestions? Anyone else been through this?

How to find Serial Number of ATT SM-G920A

Hello All,

To find your serial number do the following steps. I found this somewhere on the net and would like to post it here.

1. Press volume down + power + home button.

2. hold the home button when you see the recovery screen.

The second steps will allow you to see the serial number of the device.

If you are able to get Smart Switch to work, can you please PM me your serial number. My serial number is not registered with Samsung and at the moment, I am unable to recover my phone.

They rejected my warranty saying the phone was rooted. However, I never rooted the phone in the first place. My Knox counter is 0 as well. I hate Samsung now!!!

Question about creating a backup

So, I'm really tempted to try out this mod http://ift.tt/1OiHM5B I've been rooting and modding phones for quite a while but nothing too difficult. I have some experience with ADB commands and can get in to a linux distro if terminal commands are necessary though I prefer to stay in windows. Can someone suggest a link or the instructions on how I could create a backup of my rooted system H950, so in the case something does go wrong I can fix it.

I'm looking for either the DD command or a way to create a KDZ img that could be flashed with the LG tool. Thanks for anyone who has any suggestions or can help me.

Moto E 2015 - Mockup Images

I have a little project i was working on and i wanted some EXACT perfect images of the Moto E.
So.. i made these and figured i'd share them.
I had made similar mockup style images for the RockBox Simulator UI..
So these *could be used for all kinds of things.

I downloaded a high res image from some random site then started modding it.
I created 2 images in PNG format (created with Fireworks)
The first one is a picture of the Lollipop UI loaded up.
The second one has the Boot Screen and i touched up the colors so it was pure black.
It is also editable in Photoshop etc so you can deselect / hide the Boot Logo for a blank black phone screen.

I almost forgot the whole point here is the viewable screen area is EXACTLY like the phone (540x960)
So you can simply overlay a Boot Logo on top to see how it will look etc.
Basically i just wanted the 2nd image but i figured i'd share both in case they are wanted.. so..
Right click, Save As.. Do what ya want with them :)

Where To Donate Your Old Android

I'm a pretty terrible person in general. I don't volunteer, I don't donate to charity, I don't recycle and I pulled the plug on my own Mom against her will. One thing I can do to score some points in my favor in the hopes of getting a ticket into the celestial gates, is donating my old Android phone to a charity.

Now you may be thinking "What could anyone do with my worthless old Android phone?" Well most of the time they'll remove the precious metals from them, melt them down and donate the money to buy calling cards for troops to call home. There's also some great programs which can take your working phone and give t to a women's shelter. Even if your phone doesn't have service it can still dial 911, which makes it perfect for people going through a crisis.

I'll list some of the available charities that you should consider if you're ready to get rid of your old phone.

HopeLine
Quote:

HopeLine® from Verizon Wireless helps support victims and survivors of domestic violence while ensuring that phones are reused in an environmentally responsible way. Anyone can donate no-longer-used phones (from any provider), batteries and accessories to HopeLine; Verizon then uses the proceeds from these donations to provide cash grants to domestic violence organizations across the United States.
SecondWave
Quote:

Donating gently used smartphones to charity can make an impact on those who are less fortunate. Here are just a few of the many reasons why you should consider donating your used cell phones to charity.
Cell Phones For Soldiers
Quote:

Cell Phones For Soldiers began in 2004 as the idea of two patriotic kids who wanted to give back to the men and women who dedicate their lives to protecting us each and every day. To date the charity has provided more than 220 million Minutes That Matter to our troops serving around the world, and it continues Helping Heroes Home via emergency funds that so far has assisted more than 2,800 veterans and their families.
Rainforest Connection

Vivid Case for Samsung S7 Edge review , a lots of photos

This is a review of the Black "Galaxy S7 Edge case,I got it for free , as the company from Texas contacted me to offer me free cases to exchange review . so here we are
Link http://ift.tt/1Se7CLD

PRO:
1. It solves the problem that the GS7E is all glass, so there is no grip. The case is very grippy A+ I can now hold it with one hand,
2. It looks great all the other cases on the market look "cartoony" with bright colors. Not too flashy looks exactly like the picture.
3. Case is fitted perfectly for the phone allowing use of the edge. I even like it better with it on because it barely catches the edge of my finger so my finger doesn't accidentally slide off when using some of the edge functions.
4. It doesn't interfere with wireless charging. I've tested this on both the Samsung wireless charger, and the Samsung fast wireless charger.

CON:
1. If you're expecting this case to give your phone any actual damage protection from a drop. It would be very minimal. The case is flexible but not as flexible as, say a gel case. So it will help against accidental dings while in your pocket situations along those lines.
The good news is that the Gorilla Glass 4 used in the manufacturing of the GS7e is incredibly strong, and envelopes the entire phone. You will probably never have to worry about scratches or moderate drops anyways. (I've already dropped mine 3 times in the first month before buying the case, and haven't seen any damage, scratches, etc.

My review is honest and unbiased , the discount will not affect my independent review

Need help restoring stock android (Galaxy S6 SM-G920I)

I recently purchased a factory unlocked Galaxy S6, and I decided to go ahead and install Xposed Framework (this is after I flashed XtreStoLite Deodexed). I installed XtreStoLite correctly, and I also installed TWRP.
After I went to install the Xposed Framework, I got stuck in a bootloop. I believe that I may have installed an incorrect version of it, although I'm not sure. I'd just like to reset the phone to its defaults - I did not have much saved on it to begin with since I decided to go ahead and mess with it encase of this happening. I unfortunately forgot to back up, since I thought that installing Xposed would be as easy as XSL. I'm able to provide any more information that anyone needs; I'd just like to get the phone working again.
I have already went ahead and loaded into TWRP and wiped the Dalvik, Cache, and I also formatted my data. I'm not sure what to do now, because it's still bootlooping. Any help would be appreciated.

During idle and sleep time I see my phone is still active during doze (not during idle_pending but during idle itself). I can constantly see the active line in the graph like bar code. Happens both in wifi and Lte.. I can't find any suspects using bbs and wakelock detectors.

Do u keep wifi turned off during night? If it's turned on, do u see the phone being awake.

I'm thinking about 3g/4g problems since the mic works with wi-fi services as i see. Does anyone have the same problem? It's preatty annoying...

FUN FACT: my girlfriend called me 4 times today and couldn't answer because of this... needless to say she got angry at me :D :crying: sooo it's urgent :silly:

Question about Android Monthly Patch ( changing my phone )

Hey guys, Im a proud owner of a Galaxy S2 whose buttons, unfortunetly, are starting to fail . Im looking for the Galaxy S7, however what keeps me afraid of continuing on Android is that after Samsung promisses for monthly update I dont see them being applied on the Galaxy S6 and Note 5 I from my colleagues in Brazil . Im afraid someone discovers a stagefright vulnerability type and my S7 takes too much time to receive a patch. Any comments?

P.S: Sorry for my poor english

I have made a terrible mistake...

If you haven't tried Gear VR yet, I don't recommend it! I happened to be in Best Buy and the mobile guy talked me into trying it. It is so insanely awesome! Now my wait for my phone is going to be so much more painful. :(

random crash of google products after app update in s4 mini.

Greetings
i had recently updated the google apps like maps, google play services, google play games along with other random apps like imo, peel smart remote, messenger etc . i was on a whatsapp call when i was switching from WiFi network to mobile data . No sooner i did that, the google services stopped working and the phone restarted. once it was in, the maps stopped working. i kept getting the message "unfortunately google services stopped working " a couple of times.
Now even the google play app is missing from the app drawer.
i have encountered the same issue before and i had to do a hard reset along with clearing the cache in recovery mode to fix it.(i lost my root privileges in that process. )
kindly assist

Whats the point posting ROMS when they DONT work fully and still have bloatware etc.?

Am i missing something, but when I came to XDA in the past it had ROMs that were better than stock ROMs. By that I mean they were faster, de-bloated and included better features. Now they all seem to just be higher android versions ported from newer phones but with most of the same bloatware and worse still, broken features like camera modes, gps or echo etc.
I just seems like there is no real gain from moving away from stock ota updates? What am i missing? I wish Cyanogen officially supported the g850F will all features working 100% !!!

XDA Stylish CSS Theme

Hello all, I present to you a darker stylish theme for xda forums, keeping with the spirit of original xda colors. I prefer a darker theme for many reasons and a lot of other folk agree, so I created my own theme. This still a WIP, but most is themed, I will update this post when I make edits.

900T Root (4.4.2 UVU1CNK2)

Hi all, just acquired a 900T on 4.4.2 UVU1CNK2. Planning on installing CM13 but first a few questions:

1) Should I OTA update before rooting and installing CM to update the baseband version?
2) If not - what is the easiest way to root on this version? (I've read about towelroot, through odin, etc - just wondering what is the most up to date way)

Thanks!

Came across a new problem I can't find anywhere else.

I've recently come across a new issue on my T-mobile Galaxy Note 4 that I haven't seen before. I've been searching online as well and can't seem to find anyone else posting about this problem either. I'm not the best but I have some experience. I've recently rooted and flashed tekxodus hybrid n4 5 1 1 rom on my note 4 through TWRP recovery. It took a few tries but everything worked. After using it for 3 days, I decided to turn it off and hard reboot it which I've done plenty of times before. But this time, upon rebooting it starts up and shows the tmobile logo screen and turns black. Vibrates twice as if you plugged it into the charger but remains black, and stays that way. If i plug it into the charger it shows the green battery screen and charges normally. I can enter twrp recovery and download mode as well. But it just can't get past the logo screen. I've also tried using a different note 4 battery from other videos, clearing the cache, delvik-cache, but nothing seems to work. As earlier mentioned, I can't seem to find any other post with this exact problem so I've come to reddit for help. Thank you in advance for any feedback.

is cyanogenmod 13 available for the SM-G920T1 Model? Please help :'(

I have been trying to removed the rent a center lock from my galaxy s6 Model SM-G920T1 for months now and i have had no luck. From the countless hours of research I've done I have discovered that the only way to remove the lock is by installing the cyanogemod rom to my device but I haven't been able to find a download for my model. All the download I've found say they are only compatible with other models. Please someone post a link to a cyanogenmod 13 download for my s6 model or tell me if there is none. If there is any other way of removing the rent a center lock from the galaxy s6 SM-G920T1 please let me know. Thank you in advance.

SlickScript for LP/MM

I have decided to release an all-in-one package to turn any LP/MM Rom into SlickROM (Fulmics/Blacksoul have done a great job with LP/MM and it's pointless to waste bandwith).

This package features:
  • Init.d Support
  • Debloat with slim replacements for essential apps
  • An init.d script with every tuned parameter I've used in SlickROM (governors, schedulers, deep level kernel parameters, etc.)
  • Other secret goodies

Uploading!

[Q - How do] How do Unlock Sim 01 for Honor 4x Che1-CL1

just received my Honor 4X in China. It's a nice phone with incredible features for a low price. As I travel a lot between China and Viettel Sim.

What I did not realize (Chinese description) was the fact that SIM1 is locked for China Telecom. SIM2 accepts my Viettel SIM (vietnam) but only with 2G.

Any Idea how to unlock SIM1 so that I can use LTE with my Viettel SIM card?
Thanks All

Zooper widgets

I've been searching around and I found a big thread on XDA with all the RRO Layers and Nav bars, but I haven't found a dedicated area outside of a Google+ page for Zooper widgets in .zw form for download. Is there a master thread or large thread where these are usually posted ?
